How It Works
Combative MMA is especially effective because it does not rely on theory alone. It uses the realistic training structure of MMA—live movement, resistance, drilling, conditioning, positional control, and pressure testing—while adapting those skills for unpredictable self-defense situations where weapons, walls, clothing, confined spaces, multiple threats, legal concerns, and escape routes may change everything. The program teaches students not only how to fight, but how to recognize danger earlier, avoid unnecessary conflict, protect themselves and others, use the environment intelligently, and make responsible decisions under stress.

Why Serious Students Train in CMMA
CMMA isn’t about learning to fight for its own sake. It’s a complete self-defense system that prepares you for the unpredictable, teaching you to recognize danger early, respond effectively under stress, and make responsible decisions when it matters most.
Tested Under Real Pressure
Every skill is drilled with live movement, resistance, and pressure testing. You don’t just learn techniques, you prove they work when adrenaline is high and the situation is unpredictable.
Built For the Real World
Training adapts MMA fundamentals to scenarios involving weapons, walls, confined spaces, and multiple threats. You learn to use the environment intelligently and respond to situations a sport setting never accounts for.
A Complete and Integrated Fighting System
Boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and concepts from Krav Maga, LOTAR, and Kali come together in one curriculum. You develop striking, takedowns, ground survival, and strategy as a single, connected skill set.
Weapons Proficiency and Defensive Tricks
Structured weapons training covers handling, retention, firearm safety, and close-quarters defense. You build the muscle memory and control needed to stay safe in high-stakes encounters.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Black House's business and programs.
Do I need any experience to start?
Not at all. Many of our students begin as complete beginners. Every program has basic-level classes designed to welcome newcomers, and our instructors will help you learn at your own pace.
Can I try a class before signing up?
Yes. We offer two free trial classes for adults, teens, youth, and kids so you can experience our training before committing.
What should I wear to my first class?
Comfortable athletic clothing you can move in, and bring water. We will guide you on any specific gear once you get started.
What ages do you teach?
We offer programs for kids (5-8), youth (9-12), teens, and adults, with level-based tracks from basic through advanced and masters.
Which program is right for me?
It depends on your goals — MMA, Muay Thai, Self Defense, and fitness each offer something different. We encourage cross-training, and we are happy to help you choose during your free trial classes.
Do men and women train together?
Yes. Men and women train side by side in a focused, respectful environment. Many women especially enjoy our Self Defense classes, but we have many training in our Muay Thai and MMA programs as well!
How should I prepare for my first class?
Wear comfortable workout clothes. Most students train barefoot, but you can wear socks if you prefer. Bring a water bottle and hydrate before class. Eat before training, but allow an hour to digest before class. Inform the instructor of any injuries or specific needs before class. Have fun!
What if I'm not in great shape?
“If you come to class, you have succeeded.” There is no weeding-out process. Very few students enter the school in the shape they want to be in. Everyone participates at their own level. Your strength, endurance, and self-defense skills will naturally improve as you continue training. If you need to step out during class, that’s fine. We encourage you to continue, but there is no pressure to perform.
I have some martial arts experience.
Black House welcomes experienced martial artists and respects all arts and instructors. We encourage you to try a few classes with us and let the manager and instructors know about your prior training.
I'm over 50. How will I keep up with younger students?
Congratulations on taking the first step! Martial arts training is for everyone. Many of our students are over 50, and you’ll find that all students show respect and kindness in class. To prepare, stretch before and after class, and be sure to hydrate!
